The work experience program qualifies for high school elective credit. In this program, students gain practical experience in a variety of jobs in industry, business, or the professions. They receive grades and school credit for work and related instructional assignments. Up to forty (40) credits may be applied toward the total graduation credit requirement through successful completion of a work experience program(s); students may consult with their counselor regarding related restrictions that may apply to this 40-credit maximum.
Credit is allocated as follows:
Transportation is the responsibility of the student.
Students may be employed at a job selected and approved by the work experience coordinator, or they may obtain their own jobs, subject to the approval of the coordinator. In order for students to receive credit for Work Experience the student must complete all necessary requirements (weekly check in with coordinator, completion of Work Experience training agreement, Work log, & Supervisor Evaluation).
WORK PERMIT PROCEDURES
All students who have a job, regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in the class, need to have an active work permit on file with RDM in order to work. The following are the steps to obtain a work permit:
